ACL welcomes new compliance committee at Sydney Airport

2nd March 2026

Sydney Airport slot manager ACL Asia Pacific has welcomed the Federal Government’s appointment of the new independent compliance committee for Australia’s busiest airport.

Dr Warren Mundy will chair the Sydney Airport Compliance Committee, which also comprises Mr Michael Cosgrave, Professor Flavio Menezes and Ms Jessica Young along with representatives of ACL, Sydney Airport and Airservices Australia.

The committee will ensure fair and effective demand management at Sydney Airport, advising the Government on the effectiveness of the new compliance and enforcement tools while reporting on matters of serious non-compliance.

It marks the final element of a suite of reforms to slot management at Sydney Airport.

Other measures include stronger compliance legislation, the publication of slot information on a regular basis, independent audits of slot usage and the appointment of ACL as slot manager on April 1 last year.

ACL Chief Executive Officer, Neil Garwood, said the new independent compliance committee represents a fresh start for slot performance at Sydney Airport.

“The formation of this independent committee to advise and report on compliance at Sydney Airport is an important step which we welcome and look forward to supporting,” Mr Garwood said.

Mr Garwood added that ACL will be releasing the Northern Winter 25 Mid-Season Report for Australia’s busiest airport – revealing airline usage of their allocated slots and compliance with demand management legislation – the week beginning Monday, March 9.
